Reflection on Annual YIM Meeting:
“Since 2009, YIM has helped about 80 young scientists get back to India with new, independent careers. The goal is to have around 300 people in the next 5 years and about a thousand scientists in the next 15-20 years back in India. These thousand people could influence the next generation of scientists to think differently.”

Reflection on Annual YIM Meeting:
“YIM had started with a great vision to make a broader impact in an Indian research community beyond facilitating young scientists to find a position. YIM infuses highly motivated and outstanding talent into Indian research community to have a broader impact through promoting a highly collaborative and dynamic scientific culture. I truly believe these seeds will start showing results maybe a decade from now.”

Reflection on Annual YIM Meeting:
“It is marvelous to experience the energy of a fresh YIM group (every year), of highly trained and motivated young researchers. These young women and men are keen to transform their own intellectual lives and those of aspiring students, by returning to India not only to initiate their careers as independent scientists, but also to participate in our changing society as citizens. Although their disciplines, chosen paths and individual experiences vary widely, this group has one thing in common-their appreciation of our world has changed immeasurably because they all took two steps: first, to leave home and second, to return. Their altered perceptions of “the home and the world” are bound to impact science and society.”
